The Benefits of Heavy Duty Pallet Racking

A fully functioning warehouse operating at optimum capacity is the dream of every employee and entrepreneur around the world. Yet many find themselves in an uneven, tumultuous, and disorganized work environment that often results in time loss, decrease in efficiency, and negatively impacting employee morale which causes the business to suffer tremendously. Often one of the primary reasons behind these mishaps is not to utilize the storage density in a warehouse to its fullest. Inexperienced and new businesses often find themselves in a clutter of an uneven system of racking and loading topped with a lack of labeling of said storage units that further leads to a dysfunctional workspace. Fortunately, in a world that’s rapidly developing at every step, such disarrays are a thing of the past and this nuisance can be dealt with heavy duty pallet racking.

Pallets:

Pallets are portable flat platforms capable of affixing massive storage units in one place to be lifted, in a stable condition, by forklifts, front loaders, pallet jacks, and other such erecting devices. They are especially perfect for heavy-duty materials such as metallic components, large stacks of lumber, etc.

Why Are Pallets Better?

-Pallets make effective usage of every inch of your warehouse space as well as being far less time-consuming. This in turn leads to further improvement in labor productivity where the focus is shifted to more important aspects of warehouse management.
-Better labor force means a safer work environment for your employees due to a reduction in the risk of injuries caused by worker fatigue brought on by extensive overhauls.
-Well-organised and thoroughly maintained storage units will give you an easier way to keep track of your inventory system, not to mention provide workers with better and faster access availability from point A to point B.
-Pallets can also lead to better handling of certain sensitive goods and enable faster and easier modes of transportation across a warehouse without inhibiting daily work schedules.

Types of Pallet Racking Systems:

1. Standard Adjustable Pallet Racking:
By far the most used and simplest form of heavy duty pallet racking system, it provides quick and easy access points to all storage units for forklift trucks due to its parallel back-to-back racking system with wide aisle space. It is excellent for high-density storage units and is easy to assemble and disassemble.

2. Drive-In and Drive-Through Racking:
Drive-In and Drive-Through Racking is a racking system that primarily utilizes heavy duty pallet racking for homogenous goods by eliminating aisle space in a workhouse both horizontally and vertically and operates at maximum efficiency using a forklift. It is an easy-to-assemble modular structure that consumes less loading and unloading time for bulk quantities while also providing further workforce protection due to its efficient floor-mounted guide rails. It is further divided into two compact storage systems: LIFO (Last In, First Out) and FIFO (First In, First Out). LIFO, by far the most used heavy-duty pallet racking, has only a single access aisle for forklifts that allows for last-loaded goods to be the first one out. Simultaneously FIFO is the complete opposite where it has two access points and the first load in is the first one out.

3. Narrow Aisle Pallet Racking:
Considered to be the best heavy-duty pallet racking system for those with limited warehouse space, it fully utilizes maximum storage capacity and provides for faster pick-up uploads and loading points through its quick accessibility to every pallet. It is heavily automated with a guided railing system that also provides further safety precautions.

4. Double Deep Pallet Racking:
Halfway between standard heavy duty pallet racking and drive-in pallet racking, it adds further depth to the pallet and operates in medium aisles, reducing access points and land costs but greatly increasing higher storage density. It operates on LIFO heavy-duty pallet racking system thus giving you quicker and more efficient access points to storage units.

5. Pallet Sliding Racking Systems:
Pallet Sliding Rack Systems utilizes the efficient usage of warehouse space, cuts back on crucial time, and increases faster loading points by transferring pallets on rollers similar to drawers. It can handle loads up to 1000kg which makes them sufficient for heavy duty pallet racking.
